  • Chapter
    General meeting of all the monks who have made a life-long commitment and who can vote. They have to take a number of decisions.

  • Chevet
    Part of a church which is at the top of the nave behind the choir.

  • Choir
    Part of a church, in front of the altar, where the community sit during the offices.

  • Coenobitism
    Monastic characteristic of a community, opposed to eremitism emphasising solitary life.

  • Compline
    Service held late in the evening, to express trust in God and in his forgiveness.

  • Constitutions
    Juridical texts which make clear and adapt rights and duties of monastic communities and their members.

  • Crown
    Which can be in an equilateral triangle.
